Review

Give specifics as to what you had to make and how you went about it and Discuss the process of making the advert: pre-production, production and post production.
I was given an assignment to advertise a product in a print, radio and TV format. In my group it was Me, Jamie and Cameron and we had to work with the product of L'Oreal casting cream gloss.

For the Print advert we had to make individual posters so altogether we would have 3 different posters for our product.
I personally started off with an mind map with things that i might want to include on my poster for example i knew that lo real casting creme is a beauty product which is normally used by females around the age of 16+. So to make my print advert successful i had to make sure that the print advert relates to my target audience. Some technique's I used in my print advert  was Beauty appeal, Celebrity endorsement, scientific claim etc.  Once i planned what i wanted my poster to look like i used Adobe Photoshop to create my desired poster. I first got a basic background which i thought would compliment the chocolate, gold glossy dye colour i was going to be advertising and i then matched he rest of the colours to do with the product/background.
For example i decided to go with a big bold gold colour which attracts attention towards the poster easily and the gold colour compliments the background giving it a more attractive look. I then decided to look for an celebrity which will suit L'Oreal casting creme target audience, after I did some research and done some personal opinions of the same age group as the target audience. I realized that there wouldn't be anyone more suitable to advertise L'Oreal other than Mila kunis. Mila kunis is a young model who is beautiful, popular and a role model to many girls and more importantly her gorgeous, healthy glossy hair matched our L'Oreal casting creme gloss Perfectly.  Once i finished my poster and i was happy with i i decided to export it as an JPEG image and uploaded it to my blog.

For the radio advert I wrote a script and checked with the rest of my group if their was anything that needed to be changed etc.
Once we was happy with the script i went with them to record their radio advert and read of their script because I'm the only female voice in the group so i helped. I personally took my script home and recorded my self speaking on audacity which then i edited by cropping out the unnecessary long pauses and mistakes and i then balanced out my voice levels so their wasn't a high pitch or low pitch sound suddenly i also then edited out the background noise so its more clear to hear my voice.  After that i used the software Reaper to edit my voice and put background music in, i wanted to go for soft, modern but yet fun music for the background of my recording. Once i was completely finished with my radio advert i exported it and uploaded it to my blogger by using sound cloud.

With my TV advert we worked into a group, we gave each other 'job roles' I was the 'model' and was advertising the product while Jamie was directing the advert for example telling me what i need to say ad where to stand. While Cameron was in charge of recording the advert by using an cannon camera and making sure the angle was correct. Once we recorded the advert I edited the advert exactly how we wanted it and put i background music by using the soft were Adobe premier Pro. I then exported it, uploaded it to you tube and then inserted the you tube video on my blogger.

What barriers/difficulties did you face during the project? How did you overcome these barriers/ difficulties?
We did come across a few difficulties while creating our adverts. For example in the poster advert it was the first time i was using adobe Photoshop and found it a bit difficult to use for example how to use the different layers etc. I did ask around but nobody knew how to do what i wanted to do so instead of giving up and struggling i decided to research and watch some videos on how to use Photoshop after a bit of practicing i got the hand of it and created my poster and also helped others who wanted a bit of help.
In my radio Advert I couldn't find anywhere peaceful where i could record my advert without getting interrupted with an high guilty noise. So I took home my script and sat in a quite house and recording my advert while using audacity and blocked out any noise in the background, balanced my voice and cut bits where i didn't want to use.
In the TV advert we experience quite a few difficulties for example Cameron saved the footage onto the camera and not on the SD card so we couldn't transport it to the computer hard drive easily so instead we had to get help and get a lead that matches and fixes into the computer and camera. Another difficulty we had was that the footage was saved wrong&the video was set up wrong which made our advert footage look bit smaller and not full screen.

5. Discuss the results from your questionnaire

Do you think the advertisement helps to sell the product?
Yes, i do think our advertisement helps to sell L'Oreal.
My print advert, is very eye catching and has all the important information on that is needed in a advertisement to help sell the product and even though i put all he important information on i didn't fill the full poster as that would be to much and be boring. So i think the print advert would be successful and i also think my TV advert will be successful because its interesting and unique but also follows an theme of an L'Oreal casting creme gloss. I also like the camera angles we used in the TV advert. My favorite advertisement we did was radio advert, i think this would be the most help full to sell the product. This is because the radio advert is Short but has a lot of informative information in, needed to help make the product sell. This is done in an fun, short and use full way which will help catch the audience eye especially with the catchy music and slogan in the radio, it will remind them of this product when they hear the songs which is included in the advert and make the advert go noticed&recall the advert.

Compare your finished product with its original intentions
When comparing our finished product and our original ideas on how we was going to make the advert appear. There is a lot of differences either if  its altering an idea or removing it complete from the advert. For example in the Print advert i firstly wanted to have me in the poster to compare me to an celebrity who hasn't got as amazing hair as my L'Oreal casting creme one to kind of resemble how using casting creme can make your hair seem expensive to do but in reality it's an cheap, amazing product which can help your hair look better than celebrity's who spend hundreds on their hair products. In my Radio advert I originally wanted to have an male voice included but i didn't think that fitted within the theme of my radio advert which was having a short, Fun, bubbly advert and i thought a male voice in my radio advert would be unnecessary.
In my TV advert, we changed an huge amount of original intentions. Our biggest change was removing a scene from it, I wanted to include a scene where You would see me walking down a path with female friends who look extremely happy with their results from casting creme gloss but due to some problems and discussing within our group we decided to remove that idea.

How presentable is your advert to your audience?
I feel like our most presentable advert is the Print advert. The print advert layout is simple but yet effective. There is a young, Gorgeous, Popular celebrity to the right of the advert and at the left of the advert is all the important information to help our audience who will be an age over 16 so while the celebrity is attracting our audience the logo is near by so it is easy to notice that the purpose of the print advert is L'Oreal casting creme. The radio advert starts off with an popular song's instrumental then it starts off with me explain how my hair gets noticed by other people and i simply explain how its thanks to L'Oreal casting creme. I think presenting my advert in this way would make it a lot more interesting than having no music at all and just saying "People like my hair, i used L'Oreal" Because that wouldn't attract many of our target audience who are wanting full, bouncy hair who would be expecting a bubbly, fun advert to kind of show that their hair isn't going to look boring but is going to look fun and attractive. The TV advert is presented quite well, It starts off with me walking down a wooden path surrounded around nature...which complements the color brown of our hair dye. The advert then goes on to me being dead bubbly&happily and explaining how i achieved the look and then having a male voice inserted in the advert will change the advert expectations and kind of make it more interesting and catch more attention than one person talking on and on.

Is there a clear message in your advert?
Its easy to tell what the message is in all of our adverts.
In the print advert its very clear when the title 'L'Oreal casting creme' In bold at the top of the print advert which easily attracts our audience towards the advert. In the Radio advert the audience will be able to see the message when I start of basically saying my hair has an irresistible, shimmering glossy tone because of L'Oreal casting creme and on our TV advert the message is clear when i start to explain and if not it is more than clear when the male voice starts including the benefits of using L'Oreal casting creme.
Do you think your advert is suitable for your target audience?
When we did our research it came across that mainly female who is mainly 16 and over use hair dye. This means that young and old people who possibly have a lot of different opinions on what makes a good hair dye and what they are expecting to get from an hair dye.  But the main reason they do use hair dye either if they are old and using it for grey hair, Young and using it for colorful hair etc. Is that they are using an hair dye for an obvious reason...they want to change their color of their hair easily, effectively and Not as often as they have to. The most popular hair dye is blond which is at 39% and the next most common is brunette at 37% (According to online stats). So i knew in my advert that we need to make sure the adverts are suitable for basically All ages over 16, Liked by different personality's and looks but most importantly give of an amazing color which has a long lasting color which in this case the statistic shows that nearly quarter of our audience will be wanting either blond or brunette hair.
I think that All of our adverts meet these qualities. In the print advert it specifically shows that our young model who has gorgeous brown hair and is using L'Oreal casting creme looks extremely happy and satisfied with our product. The young model is Mila kunis, she is an model&actor who is loved, adored and a young role model to many young and middle aged women. So without a doubt, Our target audience will know or have an idea who mila is.  Also in all of our adverts we made sure that the voice/person is and looks very happy with the results. I feel like this is an important step to get young females to like what the product is as they don't want to see a boring girl who doesn't look to happy with the results.
What persuasive techniques did you use and did you think they were effective?
In the Print advert we used celebrity endorsement who is mila kunis, she is very attractive, young model who has shimmering golden brown hair who is perfect for an model off L'Oreal casting creme. I think this was an effective idea because Mila kunis is looked upon by many young girls who want to be like her and who wouldn't want gorgeous looking hair like hers. Another technique we used in the print avert is that it has an scientific claim "No ammonia" which makes this product more healthy for your hair, it also has an catchy slogan and an unfinished comparison which is "because your worth it" This will stick into the audience's head and make the print advert more easier to remember and as soon as you read "because your worth it" you automatically think about L'Oreal.  The print advert also used the 'life style' technique because 87% of females dye their hair monthly, so L'Oreal is promising that it will make your life style much easier by giving you an hair dye that lasts up to 28 washes and still gives you an Glossy, Luxuriant, sleek look.
In the Radio advert i have the same slogan and unfinished comparison which will show that this advert is related to L'Oreal and get the audience thinking about other adverts. I also compliment the consumer because it will make the consumer aka our audience feel more confident within them self's if they do buy L'Oreal casting creme.
In the TV advert it includes the slogan and unfinished comparison (because your worth it) it also includes independence/individuality because its up to our audience if they do want to buy L'Oreal but its our responsibility to sell the product to them. It includes life style because the advert includes me in a local area where i live and proves that L'Oreal casting creme can make your life easier. Another technique is the end result, it shows my hair being bouncy, beautiful and shiny which will also then compliment the consumer because its basically saying you can achieve the same looks i did just by using L'Oreal casting creme.

Overall what did you think of the technical aspects of the advert?
Overall I'm very proud of how the technical aspects of each advert has turned out. For example i think the lightening and angles in the TV advert helped compliment the way it turned out.
Team work: mention yours and others technical quality and creative ability.
Our team worked amazingly. We all disgusted ideas on how we should do each advertisement, even though we wasn't exactly doing the print advert and radio advert together we still gave each other ideas on what we might need to include so everyone in our team had ideas on what to do and if any of us got stuck or wanted an opinion on our work, we all helped. My main part of the team was being the model, the voice and basically wrote down the idea's on what we needed to do. For example, if we had an idea i would write it down and then we would disgust on which idea we all thought would be a good/successful idea. I had to speak in our radio advert, be the 'model' in the TV advert. Jamie was basically our director, hes the one who gave us the most 'creative' ideas, he organised the TV advert and gave the most opinions on our work saying which worked well and which ones we might need to improve on. Cameron was the most technical guy in the group so he was there when we needed the filming, angles etc and if we needed help doing something on a software we all asked Cameron.

What would you improve if you had to do it again?
If i could do this again, i would make a few adjustments. Especially on the TV advert, i don't like how the footage came out smaller than it should off and also i would like to include different angles. For my Radio advert, even though i balanced out the audio the audio was still a bit fuzzy so i would off improved the quality of the audio. For my print advert i think i would improve the layout, make it a little bit more organised. Other than that i am happy with how the adverts turned out.

What have you learnt or developed during this project? Mention: skills/ knowledge/ ability.
since I've started this assignment i have learnt quite a lot. I Leaned how to use reaper and put more than one audio together in that software i also learnt how to use photo shop better as it was the first time i used that software during this project. I also learn a lot of with premier, i never used this before the project and was a complete beginner on the softer were, i leaned the basics and then improved and was more of an trail and error until i was happy with the end result.
